Welcome

Principal's Message

Welcome to Outwood Academy Newbold Sixth Form. We are an ambitious Post-16 provider and trust that this website will provide you with a comprehensive overview of our curriculum, enrichment and the overall experience that we offer here at Outwood Academy Newbold.

As an inclusive sixth form provider our exceptional support, care and guidance ensures our learners progress onto their chosen post-18 destinations. We believe in life-long learning and want all of our students to leave us with a love of learning and desire to continually progress whether it be Oxbridge, university, an apprenticeship, college or education in employment. “Students First: Raising standards and transforming lives” really is at the heart of everything we do. Therefore, we not only focus on supporting our students in their academic studies but also developing them as individuals. We are as passionate about giving our students a positive life experience as we are in supporting them to gain the highest possible grades.

From Year 12 we offer many opportunities to broaden students’ experiences. For example, all students, as part of the extra curricular programme of opportunity will undertake work experience in order to support their career aspirations, and take part in a leadership programme within the academy to develop desirable skills for both the workplace and further education. We are knowledgeable about the local and national employment opportunities and ensure that all of our interventions leave students more suitable for career progression.

Sixth form students are the senior students within the academy and are viewed as role models to all younger students. They have additional rights and responsibilities that reflect their status including lead learner programmes, independent study and the student union. We constantly challenge our sixth form students academically and we expect our students to rise to these challenges, meet our high expectations and uphold our academy values. We have ambitions for the current sixth form students to be the mentors and guides for future students, a process that has started this year through using past students in our virtual prospectus.

We very much look forward to working with both internal and external students at the most crucial time of their education. Should you have any questions regarding our sixth form provision or you would like to arrange a visit to view our facilities then please do not hesitate to contact us at the academy.
