Today’s Post 16 students are tomorrow's leaders. With this in mind we provide a variety of ways for our Post 16 students to show their leadership potential. In September we launch our leadership programme with students where we offer a variety of roles within the academy that students sign up for. This programme ensures students are able to develop skills that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do. Some of these opportunities include:
- Leading a team of students to support academy events
- Supporting teachers in lessons (perhaps even delivering a small task)
- Peer mentoring this may be pastoral or academic, and often with younger year albeit not exclusively so
- Being a reading buddy
- Supporting sporting events
- Supporting enrichment activities
- Sports Leaders Programme
Student Union is something we advertise for applicants each year. This is voluntary, unlike the leadership programme. We have a variety of roles within the team including the President, Environment Lead, Charity Lead and so on. We have created roles each year where students have a particular passion to develop something within the academy. This team meets regularly with the Post 16 lead to ensure that their concerns/ideas are heard and addressed.
