Safeguarding

We take our safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously. It has been recognised by Ofsted (2017) that “child protection systems are in place and are effective. The school works effectively alongside other agencies to support pupils who are either at risk or are vulnerable. Case studies of individual pupils reveal a robust and rigorous approach, keeping the best interests of the pupils at the core of the work”. Furthermore, there is “an increasingly open culture within the school where pupils are able to contribute, air their views and receive support where necessary. This has helped to create an environment in which, pupils say, diversity and equality are valued.” To learn more about our safeguarding policy visit our safeguarding webpage on the main website.

NAMED PERSONS WITH RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHILD PROTECTION:

Designated Safeguarding Lead: Clare Schulze
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Sarah Sanders
Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO): Miles Dent

Outwood Academy Newbold has a committed team of Senior Leaders who are trained as Advanced Designated Safeguarding leads or ‘DSL’. Clare Schulze (Vice Principal) is the Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead and oversees all aspects of safeguarding within the academy.

Each of the DSL team also takes responsibility for leading on emerging local and national issues and ensures our curriculum, enrichment and assembly programme promotes proactive safeguarding to all students.

Counselling

Counselling offers a confidential space to talk in privacy about anything that is bothering you. You just need to let someone know that this is something that you feel you require, or it may be something that we suggest too.
