Are you someone who gains satisfaction from helping others? If so there are lots of ways you can engage with the community and involve yourself in charitable activities. Our students are encouraged to raise awareness of causes and organise ways to raise funds for our agreed charities. It's an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the community, whilst gaining vital experience and increasing your employability skills for the future.
We have a charity committee as part of our Student Union. Each year the committee decides on a charity that they would like to support; often this is a local charity that holds meaning for those particular year groups. The committee supports a variety of community events, as well as organising their own events. For example students have completed a sponsored hike in the past (dogs were welcome), discos for younger year groups, talent shows, bake sales, and so on. We encourage students to be creative in the ways that they can support these charities to really develop their skills too.
