As an academy we have offered the Duke of Edinburgh Award for several years now. We have a number of students who are undertaking their gold award, but you can clearly start at any stage of the award.
Bronze and silver award: you must complete four sections linked to: helping in the community or the environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition. For the gold award you must also work with a team on a residential activity.
The DofE programme is open to anyone and the group includes students from our lower school too. The programme is an excellent way to set yourself new challenges, and to improve a variety of skills such as communication and resilience. It’s also something universities and employers really value as it highlights your commitment and determination.
